Quick step-by-step
Prepare the tray
Use a 20×40 cm (8×16 in) tray with 2–3 cm (0.8–1.2 in) of growing medium.
Sow on the surface, no soak
No presoak needed. Sow on the surface, just like arugula.
Mist only
The seeds are mucilaginous: use a mister only, never hard watering.
Give it indirect light
12 hours of indirect light, at 15–22 °C (59–72 °F).
Harvest quickly
Cut at 5 to 8 days.
Common mistakes
Watering it hard
Hard watering ruins the tray because the seeds are mucilaginous.
Underestimating the heat
The flavor is very spicy and intense; mix it with milder microgreens if it's not for everyone.
