Microgreens
Radish
Raphanus sativus
Radish is the fastest and easiest microgreen to start with: from sowing to your plate in 5 to 8 days. It has a signature peppery bite and provides vitamin C, vitamin E and glucosinolates.

Quick step-by-step
Prepare the tray
Use a 20×40 cm (8×16 in) tray with 3–4 cm (1.2–1.6 in) of moist, not soggy, growing medium.
Sow densely
Spread 30–40 g (about 1–1.4 oz) of seed per tray evenly, without burying it.
Keep it in blackout for 3–4 days
Cover the tray for the first 3 to 4 days. The stems stretch toward the light and stay more tender.
Give it light, not direct sun
After blackout, give it 12 hours of indirect light or a grow light at 18–24 °C (64–75 °F). Avoid direct sun.
Water by stage
Mist lightly once a day, then switch to bottom watering from day 4.
Harvest on time
Cut with scissors once the cotyledons are fully open, before the true leaves appear.
Common mistakes
Overwatering the medium
The medium should be moist, not soaked. Too much water without airflow leads to white mold.
Using seeds that float
Seeds that float when hydrated tend to germinate poorly. Discard them for an even tray.
